10 STUNNING WRAPS FOR SUMMER - FEATURING HEATHER WEIR YARN

We recently received two boxes of heaven from Heather Weir.

Here it is in the store - glorious!

Heather creates small-batch, hand-dyed yarns from her home studio in Lower Hutt, Aotearoa/New Zealand.

Everything, from sourcing the yarn to shipping, is done with love and care by hand.

The nature of hand-dyed yarn is that no two skeins are exactly the same.

Heather sources finest quality, fully traceable and sustainably farmed yarns from New Zealand and abroad.

The dyes she uses are made in Australia and New Zealand.
They are acid dyes, used for dyeing protein-based fibre (such as wool and silk).
Every care is taken to use only the quantities necessary to create her colourways. This means that the dyepot is fully exhausted when the dyeing is complete - the water is clear, so Heather can reuse the same water for the next batch.

WE HAVE TWO BASES IN STORE.
50% Silk / 50% Merino - we chose this one for its weight & drape.
100% Corriedale Wool - we chose this one for its structure & softness.
Both are heavenly soft and all come in 8 colours.
You can view the entire collection here.

And in celebration of our new delivery, here are some wrap patterns in both knit and crochet to inspire your summer make.

All these patterns are available on Ravelry, my favourite place to find patterns.
I've searched on the weight "DK" and "wrap" and picked those that caught my eye. Click on each image to be directed to the pattern.

Why wraps? They are so versatile. The perfect layer on a summers evening when the sun goes down but you're not ready to head in just yet. And they exude effortless style - what more do we need!

1. COWBOYS & ANGELS by Isabel Kramer

You'll need 800m of yarn (4 skeins of the Silk/Merino or 5 skeins of Corriedale) & 4.50mm needles.

2. AGE OF BRASS & STEAM KERCHIEF by Orange Flower Yarn

2 skeins for this little beauty. It also uses 5.00mm needles so will be a glorious open & light knit, quick too!

3. CARA SHAWL by Truly Crochet

This little lovely is crocheted & FREE!!
You'll need 1000m (4-6 skeins) and your 4.00 mm hook. It's also easily adjustable so you could make any size you wish.

4. SLICED DIAMONDS CROCHET WRAP by Two of Wands

Be still my geometric loving heart!! And this one is also available for free, via Two of Wands blog or there is a paid, ad-free version.
Alexandra is an incredible designer and is someone who is constantly inspiring me.

You'll need 6-7 skeins and your 6.00mm hook.

5. LAURENTIAN SHAWL by EatWanderCrochet

This pattern is so clever, even I was fooled that it was knitted!!

You know this caught my eye for my love of colourwork (aka - getting bored quickly :) )

You'll need 6-7 skeins for this lovely triangle-shaped scarf.

6. TIDAL FADES SHAWL by Bella's Custom Crochets

3-4 skeins, a 5.00mm hook and your ready to go for this one.

It's worked using single crochet and a chain, to create crochet's version of moss stitch - you'll love it!

7. THE ADIRONDACK WRAP by One Dog Wolf

Designer ChiWei sums this project up perfectly!

"The Adirondack Wrap uses shapes and colours to create to a long, light and flowing wrap that can also be worn as a scarf. It’s deceptively simple design makes it perfect for on-the-go crocheting, watching-tv crocheting, and sip-and-stitch crocheting!"

7-9 skeins and your 6.00mm hook for this beauty.

8. BERKSHIRE WRAP by One Dog Wolf

Another delicious make from One Dog Wolf and she expertly describes The Berkshire Wrap as

"The knit companion to the Adirondack Wrap, built from 3 large triangles to create a stunning shawl. The Berkshire Wrap is lightweight, soft, and a perfect accessory all year round. Wear it for crisp spring and fall evenings, summer weddings, or transform it into a warm and cozy scarf for chilly winter days."

I totally agree! Imagine it in "That Moon", timeless!

9. CAMP WILKERSON by Boyland Knitworks

Worked in one piece, you can team all your favourite colours together.
I'm thinking the Corriedale in Wild Woods, Pito-One, That Moon & Ginger Crunch

10. POLLY SCARF by Crochet Birdie

Yep, that's me :) While it's not a wrap, it is such a handy addition to your wardrobe.

You'll only need 2 skeins for this make. I'd recommend the Corriedale for this one as it needs the structure.

AND THAT'S A WRAP - pun intended :)
